This review is from: Waring JEX328 Health Juice ExtractorMy understanding is that there are basically 3 types of juicers:- Masticating - like a Champion Juicer- Centrifugal - like this one- Citrus only typesMasticating juicers are generally thought of as the best type, but they are more expensive - around $$. If money is no object, a Champion Juicer is probably the way to go.But, since money was an object for me, I got this one. We have used it almost everyday for about 6 months with great results. The primary thing that we juice is carrots - usually about 20 large carrots each day, and it handles these carrots with no problems. I am very satisfied with this juicer, and I would buy it again.A few other notes - Noise. I do find it moderately noisy, but it's so fast that I'm done juicing before it bugs me or anyone in the house.Cleaning. There are five parts to clean - the lid, the strainer, the pulp collector, the juice collector (looks like a stainless steel cup), and the pusher. The pusher, the lid, and the juice collector are a breeze to clean - about 15 seconds each. The pulp collector is fairly easy to clean (it detaches) but it does have a few small areas which the enclosed brush helps to clean - takes about 1 minute. The strainer is hard to clean without a brush. The brush that comes with is very small, maybe too small for daily use cleaning the strainer, but if you get a larger kitchen brush, the strainer cleans easily - about 1 minute. All together, around 3 minutes to clean.Other minor notes. The juicer has rubber nobs on the bottom, so it doesn't move on the counter when it's running, which is nice. The juice collector (cup) does move a little sometimes when juicing, so you have to keep an eye on it so it doesn't slip off. The pulp collector does fill after about 10 large carrots, but it's easy enough to take the lid off, dump the pulp, and start again - takes about 10 seconds. All in all, a great juicer for the price!...This review is from: Waring JEX328 Health Juice ExtractorSmart shopper that I am, I checked out all the reviews of various juicing products that I could find before zeroing in on this one. After all my research, I decided that this one seemed to be the best value and most useful version on the market, and--crossing my fingers--I ordered it. WHAT A GREAT BUY.Things I was worried about before purchasing included noise (I have 2 small children, and I don't relish the notion of waking and/or frightening them every time I get a hankering for fresh juice), size (our family of 4 shares a compact 1-bedroom apartment with limited kitchen space), and ease of cleaning (we have no dishwasher and a microscopic sink--just large enough to wash up the dinner dishes, one plate at a time!) Having been exposed to various models and types of juicers in the past while working for families that practically considered juicing a religious pursuit, I knew how complex and cumbersome these beauties can be. Therefore, I was prepared to be disappointed by a loud, messy, difficult-to-operate monstrosity, if that turned out to be the case. I am QUITE pleasantly surprised by this product, for the aforementioned and similar reasons. Unlike other juicers I have seen, it is compact, relatively easy to disassemble/clean/reassemble, and makes remarkably little noise for the work it does. I made today's batch of apple-celery-carrot juice while my 7-month-old was napping in the next room and had the juicer cleaned, dried, and ready to go again before the juice had all been drunk. That's a considerable compliment, since the juice was DELICIOUS and disappeared in a heartbeat! So far, I can come up with nothing negative to say about the Waring Health Juice Extractor, but if I think of something, I'll be sure to share the news. In the meantime, I'll be busy dreaming up new concoctions to make in my cool new juicer and admiring the statement this silver-and-onyx treasure makes on my kitchen counter! Two thumbs up!...This review is from: Waring JEX328 Health Juice ExtractorThis juicer has performed very well. I like the stainless steel cup (no juice stains). The motor very powerful (400 amps) and is holding up well; I've juiced lot's of fruits and veggies so far. The strainer is a snap to clean (I recommend you use an old tooth-brush instead of the brush they give you). Cleaning the pulp after use is also a snap. Cucumbers, apples, and pears go through very easily. Red beets take a little work. Carrots are easy, but make up the majority of the pulp. Also, too many carrots will clog up the pores in the strainer (so be careful) Romain lettuce and parsley are a little tricky. I recommend folding and juicing it first, then any fruits later. I tried cabbage; big mistake (it stinks). And, do not mix grapefruit with any veggie juice (the high acid with veggie juice tastes aweful after a few days in the fridge and is just bearable fresh).Overall, and excellent addition to my lifestyle....

CitriStar Juicer by Tribest - New

This review is from: CitriStar Juicer by Tribest - NewI have four fifty foot grapefruit trees in my yard and I needed a juicer that was capable of handling large fruit and a motor powerful enough to handle the job at hand. I use it so often that I was afraid that it would end up as a permanent fixture on my counter top, but I found it easy to make room for it in the cabinet when I needed the extra space. Its so much easier to clean than the small juicers that I've gone through from Wal-Mart, but the tiny metal lip that controls the flow is delicate and needs some TLC. It has a good strong motor and its heavy enough to stay in place when the juice is being extracted. I tried the Cuisinart juicer but once you push down on the grapefruit, the grapefruit stays in place but the juicer spun around and blasted juice 360 degrees all around my kitchen!! I returned it immediately and looked long and hard to find this fabulous juicer. It comes with a universal cone so even the smallest lemons or limes can be juiced as well as the grapefruit!!...This review is from: CitriStar Juicer by Tribest - NewI love this juicer. My introduction to citrus juicers was my friend's Phillips brand juicer. It works flawlessly and is easy to clean. Unfortunately Phillips no longer makes it; hence my search for a suitable replacement. This Tribest is an excellent choice. It works well, has a powerful motor and is very easy to clean. I agree with reviewer Zimmerman that the metal lip which directs the juice to your glass feels delicate but it has worked flawlessly. If this juicer has a shortcoming it would be the fact that the screen is not adjustable as some juicers are. Having an adjustable screen allows you to determine how much of the pulp goes into the juice. I like lots of pulp. This juicer screens out a large portion of it. Of course, you can use your fingers and grab some of the pulp out of the screen and drop it in your juice but it would be nice to have an adjustment for that. Despite that, I still give this juicer a top rating....This review is from: CitriStar Juicer by Tribest - NewI had been apprehensive about buying a juicer, even though I consider it a luxury to start each day with fresh orange juice. You can go crazy and spend a pile o' dough on a machine that basically duplicates the results of old-fashioned hand juicers. But when the woman who runs this zoo bought a giant Juice-O-Rama machine that instantly reduces EVERYTHING to juice---did you know you can make juice out of bell peppers?!---I decided (since the one thing it WON'T do is squeeze the juice out an orange, though I imagine it will reduce the orange, peel and all, down to a liquid---heck, it will probably make juice out of a fireplace log) that perhaps I could afford the luxury of this machine. Now my morning ritual involves a Zen process of slicing, juicing, and rinsing. Though the instructions say not to put any of the parts in the dishwasher, every once in a while I do throw in the screen, the top bowl, and the cones, and they do not seem any the worse for it. Usually, however, I just rinse the cutting board and then rinse off the cones, the screen, and the bowl, stacking the juicer parts on the cutting board to dry.Powerful? Just right---although once when I mashed down a little hard, the torque actually moved the juicer an inch or two---which would have been okay except for the fact that it moved the spout away from the glass. Oh, and then there was the time I set everything out, sliced the oranges, and proceeded to juice half an orange all over the counter, having forgotten to place a glass under the spout.Somehow, however, I decided that this was not a defect in the juicer.[UPDATE: MAY 1, 2011]Okay, I just happened to notice that I bought this thing almost exactly two years ago. I haven't used it every single day since then, but have certainly used it most mornings. I think it's now safe to declare its parts top-rack dishwasher safe! And looking at my never-ending life as an American Consumer, I am ready to declare that this juicer has been money well spent. It's still going strong. . . unlike most everything else in this place!...
