This review is from: Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer, Chrome and BlackI used to have an ACME centrifugal juicer. I thought I would never like any juicer better than the ACME because it made good juice and was very easy to clean. The only drawback to a centrifugal juicer is it won't extract much juice from leafy green vegetables and won't juice wheatgrass.I got this Omega 8005 juicer because I wanted to be able to juice greens and wheat grass as well as root vegetables. I read on a forum that this new Omega juicer is the best there is for under $400. This Omega juicer is even easier to clean than the ACME, which is a big issue because in the long run you won't use a juicer if its a hassle to clean. And it squeezes all the juice out of anything I put in it. The pulp comes out very dry. It is super quiet too and the ACME was loud. The Omega runs at a low rpm so it doesn't kill enzymes and stuff like that, so its supposed to make healthier juice than a Champion or centrifugal juicer. Its a pleasure to use. I make juice every day now. I love getting all the nutrients that I need regularly. It helps my body recover from surfing everyday. The juicer is very well built and very simple. It seems like it will last a long time and it has a very long warranty. You can tell that I love this juicer, eh?Edit: It's now 2009 and I've had this juicer almost five years. I still use it just about every day. I still love it. The juicing screen started to wear out a few months ago. I emailed Omega and they sent me a new one for free. They certainly stand by their 10 year warranty. I am comforted to know that if anything else should happen, I still have five more years of no questions asked replacement....This review is from: Omega J8005 Nutrition Center Single-Gear Commercial Masticating Juicer, Chrome and BlackWhat I ThinkI started thinking about juicing a couple of years ago. Over time I did a little reading on the internet but never thought passed the idea of juicing more than fruit (I'll get to why this important a little later). The cost was also a little more than scary - I always thought I could find a better way to spend $300 or $400 (the price of the "better" fruit juicers).I'm not a health nut, but after a short hospital stay I decided I should take better care of myself. About a month ago I finally bought the Omega 8005 Juicer. Why did I choose this model? Review after review extolled its virtues and the closest competitor, the Green Star Juice Extractor, was more expensive. This is one kitchen appliance that is well worth the expense. Why Would You Buy ThisIf you are only concerned with juicing fruit this isn't the best model for you. It isn't so much cost, a good centrifugal juicer will cost about the same, or more. The issue lies in the straining screen. Pulpy fruits like nectarines clog the screen and you have to take the unit apart to clean it before you can continue juicing (I know this from experience). It can be done and in small quantities isn't that big a deal. But if you never plan to juice leafy vegetables or grasses I'd look elsewhere. If you want to juice leafy vegetables or grasses, then you need something like a gear juicer. The Omega fits the bill and is actually less expensive than some fruit juicers. There is also the issue of heat. Some juicers can heat the vegetables because they juice at high-speeds - thus reducing the nutritional value. Here again the Omega fits the bill because it's gear mechanism turns a low rate and is actually less expensive than many other similar units. The Omega can also make nut butters, pasta, and whole host of other things; have I mentioned that the Omega is less expensive than many of its competitors ;).More importantly, though, a glass of juice from the Omega contains more delicious vegetable nutrition than I have ever had in a single serving before.Use/ConvenienceI was a little concerned about having to chop up the vegetables and the reports of "lengthy" cleaning. Well, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Depending on how much you juice at one time it takes 30-40 minutes, from washing and cutting up the vegetables to finishing up cleaning the last piece of the juicing mechanism (not much more effort than cooking the darn things in my opinion - and I still do a lot of that for dinner). If you can clean a blender, the Omega is just as easy. I always take apart my blender to clean it, so cleaning the Omega wasn't that big a deal - maybe 2 or 3 minutes longer.Tips/TricksFirst and foremost, do some research. The internet is chock-full of recipes and tips. Here are a few I picked up either through research or experimentation:1. Use bitter or pungent vegetables and fruits in moderation - unless you just love chewing on a hunk of ginger, then go for it. Roots like ginger add a nice zing, but can overpower anything else if not used sparingly. Limes add a surprising amount of flavor; I add one-quarter of a small lime - anymore is just too much for me.2. Peel oranges and grapefruits, but leave the white "skin" just under the surface. The rinds can be very bitter to taste and apparently contain minute traces of toxins. Grapefruits fall into the "pungent" category for me. When mixing in other fruits I only use 1 grapefruit.3. If you want to sweeten a drink, use an apple instead of sugar, eve...

This review is from: Oster 3186 Juice-n-Serve 27-Ounce Automatic Citrus JuicerI was a little concerned about how this juicer would measure up to our stronger wattage one which was heavy to lift down from an upper cupboard, the pitcher was way too large, and the pitcher handle had broken off. I like the compact size of this model, and it has NO problem efficiently juicing oranges for OJ or lemons for recipes that require juice. I only have an electric juicer because my wrists are sensitive (everyone who uses a keyboard too much should avoid the repetitive movements required with an old-fashioned glass juicer). Am very satisfied with this Oster 3186....This review is from: Oster 3186 Juice-n-Serve 27-Ounce Automatic Citrus JuicerThis is a great little juicer. Reasonably priced and works really well. We have lemon and orange tree and use it often. It is perfect for our needs....

This review is from: Jack LaLanne JLPJB Power Juicer Juicing MachineOverall I think it's a great juicer, particularly for the budget conscious novice; the price is appealing and the quality is good. There is no need to buy disposable filters and the main source of labor lies in washing which is initially something to get used to. The amount of juice it extracts is good as far as I can tell, though the pulp is not perfectly dry*, but the juice is thick and not clear, so if you want very clear juice perhaps this juicer isn't for you. *Now for my explanation on the pulp. Apples for example, frequently result in very thin slices being discarded into the pulp collector. That doesn't thrill me. Also in general, despite the pulp being dry, I discover on dismantling the juicer there's a good amount of wet juicy pulp that's stuck to the inside (think: apple sauce). The TV demonstration's somewhat misleading on their claim of this juicer's superiority in extracting juice completely from fruits and vegies. As mentioned by others, the parts are plastic, so take care in washing well. For me the green side (scour pad) of the sponge will remove a great deal of the staining, especially if you clean it right after using, but be gentle, because you don't want to scratch it up and create more crevices for stains to seep. By the way, you do still need to cut the fruit, like large apples and oranges which cannot be fed into the chute. But of course, the preparation process is lessened as peeling and de-seeding is an optional step. Be careful when you use this juicer on harder veggies like beets, though. The way I get around this is by cutting them down and alternating with another type of veg/fruit. Fortunately I haven't had any problems by following the suggestions outlined by the LaLannes, but I can definitely sense there's a limit.REGULAR or DELUXE?Soon after purchasing my regular model I found the deluxe at the local wharehouse store for the same price. I bought that one, too, and compared. I discovered there is absolutely no difference in the machine itself. The deluxe simply comes with extras, which boils down to figuring out whether you find the price difference (if there is any) worth paying for the following:- an extra blade- a brush (very useful in cleaning the strainer, but a very generic kitchen tool)- large measurement cup (again, useful, but generic and superfluous if you juice directly into your glass)- juicer platform and overflow platform (these would be better if they latched onto each other so there's some stability and utility)- an extra blade-remover- a bonus book entitled TOTAL JUICING...This review is from: Jack LaLanne JLPJB Power Juicer Juicing MachineIt seems like a lot of these reviews are written by beginners who are reviewing the practice of juicing itself, rather than reviewing the machine for which this page is all about. To new juicers who haven't ever juiced before: Yes, there is clean-up involved. Yes, there will be organic particulate matter in the juice-machine made juice (this is actually a good thing), much more so than heavily strained 'store bought' juices. If you're looking for a magic machine where you can throw fruits and veggies into a chute and out pops a bottle of Welches, sorry. That's Star Trek, not juicing... and even if that's what the juicer accomplished, if that's what you want, then why buy a juicer in the first place? The reason we juice is because we want our juices to be totally natural, without additives and preservatives, and with all of the nutrients inherent to the fruit or veggie left intact. You do not get this when you buy a bottle of crystal clear juice at the supermarket. The sacrifice we make for the superior juice is effort and higher cost. The reward is juice that is hugely superior to anything you can buy in a bottle.Anyway, on to the machine. This is an exceptional entry level machine. If you buy one and find yourself so enamored by juicing that you want to totally incorporate it into your life, you can eventually consider moving on to a Greenstar or a Breville. For everyone else, this machine is a great starting point and for most of us, is the ending point as well.I own 4 juicers, running the spectrum of quality from $19.95 to $300. The Lalanne has become the workhorse of the lot. In comparing the LaLanne Classic to the other juicers, it's very apparent that it seriously outperforms the lower quality juicers in the way of juice extraction, and is actually comparable to the higher end units- the difference certainly isn't more than their respective differences in cost. On certain online discussion forums, "Juicer Snobs" often laugh at the Lalanne, but I would wager that these people haven't ever compared one to their $400 unit. If they had, they might be regretting their pricier purchase. The feed chute is nice and large, and the powerful motor is strong enough to really wring out the fluids. No, the pulp doesn't come out 'completely dry' (as they suggest on TV) but the machine does a very good job in separating and anyone who is used to a cheapie juicer will be very impressed.Clean up isn't that bad on the Lalanne. One thing any long time juicer will tell you is that clean-up should always be done right away. The moment you are finished juicing your F&V's, toss the components into the dish washer and clean your blad...

This review is from: Super Angel All Stainless Steel Twin Gear Juicer- 5500I wrote a recent review on the Omega Vert and was asked to compare the Angel 5500 with it. The following is a repeat of what was written in my Omega Vert review. ________After some time with the Angel 5500 and the Omega Vert here is my snapshot showdown between the two machines. Guns loaded with leafy greens, fruits (fresh and frozen) and nuts. Quantity of juice: The Angel is far superior to the quantity of juice produced compared to the Vert. I even took the remaining pulp from the Vert and fed it to the Angel and it produced enough juice on its own for 3 afternoon shooters. Quality of juice: As expected the Angel won here. The juice from the Angel did have slight pulp but overall it was smooth and clean tasting. Appearance and taste provided a much deeper vibrancy. I would say the color was 2-3 shades deeper with the Angel juice in contrast to the Vert. Taste was more complex but yet silky with the Angel. Whereas the Omega Vert had a lot of pulp and was bath water foamy. I let the Vert juice settle a bit and then strained which produced a cleaner taste but the color was still not as clear and vibrant.Heat dissipation: Little difference detected between the two. Frozen fruit - sorbet test: The Vert won by a mile on this one. It gobbled up all the frozen fruit combos I gave it and churned out very nice sorbet. The Angel produced a syrup mess.Cleanup: The Omega Vert won by a 10 minute faster clean up. Frankly I'm anal about keeping things new and very clean and it took me 25 minutes to clean up the Angel and aprox 15 minutes for the Vert. I could have speeded up both times by not cleaning the screens as diligently but as I mentioned I'm meticulous when it comes to cleaning. The screen on the Angel is a pain to clean.Build quality: Despite the all stainless steel on the Angel I believe that the Omega Vert is just as substantial but with hard composites. The Vert's housing is very well made but the machine's parts are in question to longevity. Side note, Omega has a fantastic warranty to fall back upon in case.I'm torn as which to keep as I can't swing space or expense to keep both. I tend to think I would use the Vert more on a daily bases due to clean up ease. However with the Angel I could get away with juicing every 2-3 days and feel safe that the fridge'd juice is of the same if not higher quality as what I would gain from daily juicing with the Vert. Without a doubt if I juiced on both machines daily the Angel would provide a greater amount of nutrients and quantity than the Vert.I hope this helps in a snapped out comparison....This review is from: Super Angel All Stainless Steel Twin Gear Juicer- 5500Angel Juicer: INCREDIBLE Juice Yield. The pulp is super dry. (I use to have a Breville Juice Fountain Plus- The pulp from the Breville(Centrifugal Force Juicer) was very wet. Breville would juice Carrots, Cucumbers, Apples, Even Kale pretty well producing 60% Juice and 40% Pulp. But the Breville was unbelievably easy to clean by comparison. After a year of juicing with the Breville, I got my cleanup time to about 3-4 minutes and then stuck it in the dishwasher and it was ready to go the next day) Angel Juicer- I can not stress this enough, but the pulp was extremely dry. The angel juices spinach + other greens, brocolli, etc. very very well. It is time consuming to juice since the feed chute is smaller than the breville and the juiceman. I estimate that the angel produces between 75-85% juice of whatever vegetable or fruit you put in. Even though it seems like you get only 15-20% more juice, the quality is far, far, far, superior than the Breville and the Juiceman. Now for the bad part: The cleanup for the angel is way longer. Initially, when I first used the angel juicer, it took me 35 mins to clean. Especially if you juice carrots, the pulp gets lodged inside the holes in the screen. I originally purchased the angel juicer because I figured there are only 3 parts to clean (2 twin gears and 1 screen). The plus side is that the gears are very easy to clean, just pour water on it and the pulp just rinses away. The screen is a different story altogether. The screen Length is very long which is great for getting a high juice yield but tough to clean. Your hands can not reach all the way inside so you have to use the included brush and then scrub scrub scrub for a very long time. (However, I have not tried putting it in the dishwasher or used vinegar to clean it because the juicer is expensive and I did not want the juicer to be damaged with high heat from the dishwasher.) My recommendation: Its an ok Juicer, I am not sure if I will juice everyday if the total time to juice is over 40 minutes (minimum). For me, I am going back on the hunt to find a juicer that juices greens as well as the angel does but takes half the time to clean. Hope this helps. :-)...This review is from: Super Angel All Stainless Steel Twin Gear Juicer- 5500After considerable research i chose this juicer because it's all stainless steel and has only 4 parts to clean vs. some 7-10 on some other juicers. the juice that comes out of this juicer is *mucH* better than what comes out a centrifugal juicer.there is no problem with the twin augers grinding which i was concerned about from one of the reviews here....actually because of the double augers, the machine can cover pretty much everything to juice from leafy greens and wheat grass to apples, oranges and carrots. i've used a champion juicer and the plastic parts got stained after a couple rounds of carrots and is a pain to pull apart and clean. it also can't be used for...

Solostar II Multi-purpose Juicer

This review is from: Solostar II Multi-purpose JuicerDrawbacksMy SoloStar II has been plagued by problems. In less than a year, many of the outer parts have broken. The juicing screen ($35.00) has broken three times. When the juicing screens break, it happens before the pulp container is even full. As a result, the auger and juicing screen need to be cleaned constantly within a session. The screen locking cap ($5.80) has also broken. Speaking of the auger, even that cracked ($35.00). Several times, I e-mailed customer service about such issues with no reply. When I called, Tribest Life promptly sent out free replacement parts.BenefitsWhen the parts aren't breaking, the SoloStar II works very well. It's simple to assembly and operate. The actual extraction process seems efficient. Cleaning is a breeze since most of the parts rinse under the sink. The only cleaning challenge is the juicing screen. Along these lines, the modified toothbrush that comes with the unit is worthless. I now use a steel auto detailing brush that does a great job. The SoloStar II is visually pleasing and the unit operates at a good volume. I was inspired to purchase the juicer after watching the online video as hosted on the Tribest Life web page. It accompanies the juicer in VHS format. Being a first time juicer, this was extremely helpful. In conclusion, there are benefits and drawbacks to the SoloStar II. While it may have been a good introduction to the juicing world, I definitely look forward to an upgrade. Talking to juicers (people who juice, not the machines;), it seems that you really need to spend around $350.00-$400.00 before getting a quality juicer. Should you decide to purchase the SoloStar II, make certain that you send in the warranty/registration card. That was essential in getting parts replaced at no charge....This review is from: Solostar II Multi-purpose JuicerIt's quiet. What a change from the previous juicer that sounded like a chainsaw in the kitchen. The only way I have to judge whether it seems to juice better is the dampness of the extruded pulp. This one makes far drier pulp than our previous. Juice is juice to me, but this one seems to work more effectively. And did I say it was quiet?...This review is from: Solostar II Multi-purpose JuicerI purchased my Solo Star II in May 2008. I had a couple centrifugal juicers before I purchased the Solo Star II, so I was accustomed to shoving the carrots and other veggies and fruits down the chute quickly and having the juice come out just as fast. The directions for the Solo Star II specifically say to cut the fruits and veggies you're juicing into small chunks about 1" long. I thought I could just push the carrots and other veggies down slowly, without cutting them into small pieces. It worked at first, but as time went on, the juicer was backing up, and there were chunks of carrots and other veggies in the juice. And my juicing screen cracked. I had it replaced under warranty. After I got the new juicing screen, all was working as when I first got the juicer. However, shortly thereafter, the same problems started occurring again. Before I called customer support this time, I went back and read the instruction manual one more time. I decided to follow the instructions to the "t" and see if that made a difference. By George it did! The juicer started working flawlessly again. I experimented and tried cutting the carrots into 1 1/2" pieces when juicing. While the juicer didn't back up and there weren't chunks of carrots in the juice, there was more carrot pulp accumulated on the auger and in the juicing screen. When I went back to 1" pieces, again it worked flawlessly with less accumulation of pulp inside the juicer. There's something to be said for following the directions - exactly. I've had my Solo Star II for a year now and as long as I take the time to follow the directions "exactly," it works flawlessly....

This review is from: Black & Decker CJ630 32-Ounce Electric Citrus JuicerThis is a nice juicer with a quality feel to it. Here is what I like about it, and where I see room for minor improvement:The Good:- Very easy to assemble, and more importantly very easy to clean. I just briefly rinse after use and then put the parts in the top dishwasher rack (minus the part housing the motor, of course).- Operation is clean, i.e. no juice hits the counter top, everything goes inside the pitcher.- I especially like the two cone sizes: The smaller one is for lemons and limes, the larger which goes on top of the smaller cone when needed, for grapefruits and oranges.- The smaller cone (which is always in) also features two plastic "blades" (called stirrers in the manual) at the bottom edge which rotate with the cone and help that juice and, if so desired, pulp actually make it into the pitcher through the strainer openings. One of the pet peeves I always had about manual juicers was the fact that the strainer got clogged with pulp and seeds so that the juice sat on top and didn't flow through. Having these stirrers there moves pulp and seeds around so that the juice can get through and the openings don't get clogged. But see note below when processing a larger number of fruits...- The reverse rotation feature is also useful in that I feel that more juice gets extraced from the fruit than if it would always just rotate in one direction. The fruit halves look really squeezed out.- Pitcher has a good capacity (32 oz). Works just as well for several large fruits as it does when one only has one single lemon - not too big, not too small.Don't Like So Much: - The electrical cord is rather short, so one can't operate this too far away from an outlet. - The auto-reverse sometimes kicks in and sometimes doesn't, and since there is no button to auto-reverse, it sometimes requires several tries. - When squeezing a lemon on the max pulp setting, quite a few of the baby seeds also get through. Since I like as much pulp as I can get in my juices, this is either something I have to live with or I reduce the pulp setting to ensure that I don't have the little seeds floating in my juice.- When squeezing larger fruits like oranges, a lot of the pulp tends to eventually collect on top of the strainer despite the stirrers (it just doesn't fit through the small strainer openings). So I end up having to periodically scoop it out when processing a larger number of fruits to avoid solid covering of the strainer. Summary: This is a useful appliance for normal household usage. I don't think, however, I would use it if I had large amounts of juice to make but for the occasional pitcher, this is perfect. At the price this is offered here, there is really nothing to think about: Get it and enjoy your lemonades or orange juices....This review is from: Black & Decker CJ630 32-Ounce Electric Citrus JuicerPlastic parts/gears wore out in less than two bags of oranges juiced. Maybe okay if only used once or twice a year. Better off getting something else.Edit: My son and I took it apart since it was on the way to the dump. It turns out the gears were okay and it was just a poor design for turning the unit on. Pressure down the stem pushes on a switch turning on the small electric motor. There is too much play in the stem which requires increasing force to activate the motor. We came up with a simple fix...a small round head phillips screw (about #10) in the hole at the base of the stem takes up the slack and it seems to work consistently again. To open the unit remove 6 small phillips screws and 1 torx screw (you'll need a special small torx screwdriver). We'll see how long it lasts now....This review is from: Black & Decker CJ630 32-Ounce Electric Citrus JuicerI got this for my husband for Christmas because he loves fresh squeezed juice. We are loving it so much and going through about 30 pounds of oranges a week, it's really easy to use....

For as much money as this juicer is I think that it should be extracting more juice than it does!!! Also you should make sure when purchasing a product that they don't require a restocking fee!!!...

Solo Star-II Single-Auger Juicer

This review is from: Solo Star-II Single-Auger JuicerThis juicer is wonderful in many ways but it does not make it to all four stars. Does it juice? Yes, and very well at that. Does it juice everything equally? No, the most difficulty that it has is with soft berries. It tends to either mush them so much that they get squeezed through the grate or they just go on through and exit the pulp extruder. Still taste and all but there are times when I simply want juice and not slurry. Does it make a good pasta press? Meh... well it started OK, but as I went on it started to struggle. The end cape where the pasta came out kept springing dough leaks and then it kept popping off. I could also tell that the process really taxed the motor even to the point of seizing once. I would say that unless your dough is a lot softer than mine (and in all honesty mine was pretty thick) you would be better off getting a dedicated pasta maker and leave the juicer for juicing. Also a word on cleaning, the only difficult thing to clean is the grate. the toothbrush that it comes with is a lifesaver. Is cleaning it a hassle? Yes, but this is going to be the case with any good juicer so suck it up and do it and do it right after the juicing because if you let that junk dry on there you will never get it clean. Have your drink as a reward for you hard work....

This review is from: Breville JE900 Juice Fountain Professional Juice ExtractorAfter my flimsy Juiceman Junior finally went to small appliance heaven, I decided to look around for a machine that I can actually live with = use it without hating to clean the thing afterwards. I'd never heard of Breville before, but the solid 5-star rating caught my eye. The idea of a wide enough feeder tube so I don't have to spend so much prep time was enticing, but what made me decide to buy the machine (cheaper some other place, look around) were the high marks on cleanup and performance. - Usually I don't write a review right away, but this juicer simply blew me away. What a beautiful piece of well thought-through craftmanship! Being German, I certainly prefer lasting performance over flimsy throw-away items, and this machine looks and feels like it will stand the test of time. I don't find the motor any louder than my previous machine, so that's not a problem. One reviewer wrote to put a damp paper towel around the pulp catcher rim to prevent tiny bits of pulp from flying out. I still had few tiny escapees, probably because I didn't do it right, but one quick wipe took care of it. Cleanup is indeed almost a joy compared to other machines. The mesh screen is build solidly, no plastic parts to wear out where it counts. This machine is worth every penny and then some, and I thank all previous reviewers for having helped me select such a wonderful piece of kitchen equipment!...This review is from: Breville JE900 Juice Fountain Professional Juice ExtractorI got this machine as a birthday present and am over the moon about it. I've made some wonderful juices...papaya/apple, apple/carrot/ginger, and citrus mix. Anything I put in is thoroughly juiced...very little moisture is left in the pulp container. It is loud but this doesn't bother me at all. I do find that I have to cut the fruit into smaller wedges...whole apples, in spite of what's advertised on the box, do NOT fit down the spout. Still, a very minor point. I highly recommend this machine...for the price, you can't beat it. And clean-up takes all of 5 minutes if you're thorough. Even comes with its own scrub brush....This review is from: Breville JE900 Juice Fountain Professional Juice ExtractorI research almost everything I buy: my blender, coffeemaker, palm pilot, my car, electric razor, laundry detergent, etc. After about 5 hours of research, I decided on the Breville JE900. My mother has a juicer from the TV guy (Jack LaL...) which I thought was decent. But I wanted to try something different, and the Breville had the highest marks I could find for the price.Assembly was a snap after unpacking the box. While the juicer is mostly plastic, its high grade plastic and looks sharp on the counter. The biggest differences between the Breville and the Jack LaL... juicer are: 1) size, 2) cleanup, and 3) noise. The Breville is smaller (but juices just as much), MUCH easier to clean (the Breville mesh screen quickly snaps in and out, while the other one requires a special tool to unscrew the screen), and is louder than the Jack LaL juicer. All of the reviews I read said "the Breville is TOO LOUD." It may be a bit noisy, but it can crunch through hard pineapple, apple cores, grape stems, hard broccoli stalks, etc. Its a power-house!In summary, a great buy at a great price (I didn't pay the full price - I found a site that sold it for about $30 cheaper, but charged $16 for shipping). It arrived in 5 days and I've been using it everyday before and after work.Enjoy!...

Superior Performance - Powerful 400-watt motor quickly turns your favorite fruits and vegetables in

Ultimate Convenience - The one-handed operation and food tray make it easy to create fresh, nutriti

Cleaning Made Simple - Dishwasher-safe, removable parts disassemble easily for cleaning

This review is from: Champion Juicer White 1/UnitI've been using my Champion juicer for about four years now. I also have an Acme 5001 juicer. The Acme is excellent, but I've found myself using the Champion and storing the Acme. The Champion juicer is extremely easy to set up and use. The continuous feed feature allows making large amounts of juice without intermittent cleaning. The Champion is versatile. With the screen removed, it's a mincer. With the blank instead of the screen it makes sorbets. With the large hole screen, the juice is pulpier, my preference. You can buy a mill attachement to mill small amounts of flour, nuts, or flax seed. Juicing is messy. The Champion is OK in that regard but not great. It's not as messy as some, more messy than others. Cleanup is quick and easy. Disassembly is a breeze. Unlike other machines with many parts and hard-to-clean screened centrifical baskets, the Champion has a small semi flat filter screen that is easy to clean. The plastic parts are tough nylon but stain easily from food. The stains go away in the dishwasher. The parts aren't supposed to be dishwasher safe, but we've never had problems. The residue is usually reasonably dry. If not, it can be run through again to squeeze more juice out of it. The residue can be used as mulch or to thicken and flavor soups and stews. The home model motor has almost never stalled on me, though it has slowed with carrots or cabbage if I use too much pressure. Just a slightly reduced pressure on the tamper and the motor speeds right back up.I know somebody who has had the same Champion since the 1950's and still uses it. Parts are reasonably priced and easily available. It doesn't juice grass, but you can roll the leaves of cabbage or lettuce and juice them. It doesn't juice leaves as good as some other juicers, but it's OK for occasional use or if the leaves are to add flavor to other juices. A person who only eats raw food would probably benefit from a slow speed gear or screw press type unit instead, even at twice the price. The unit is heavy and bulky, but has had the same honored spot on our kitchen sink since we bought it new. I love the 1950's utilitarian styling. I'd recommend getting another juicer if it needed to be stored in a cabinet after each use or if you want something sleek looking. If it was stolen, I'd buy another, except maybe a dark color that doesn't stain.Update November 2009. It's still going strong, and I've discovered other uses for it. We bought the grain mill, and use it to grind flax seed. An apple butter recipe I made calls for quartering the apples, boiling them for 20 minutes, and then straining the apples to remove the skin and seeds. Straining by hand was extremely slow and labor intensive, but I got a brain storm (necessity being the mother of invention) and put the sieve plate with large hole in my Champion. Running all 20 or so lbs. of cooked apples through it took about 5 easy minutes. The applesauce came out of the bottom, the skin and seeds out the end. If anything, I love my old Champion even more than before....This review is from: Champion Juicer White 1/UnitFirst off I'd like to say for the price the Champion is an excellent machine for what I imagine most people use it for. However with that being said I must say that for a Raw foodist or a pro-active vegan/vegitarian it is less than ideal. It makes juice GREAT but does not juice greens or wheatgrass well and smokes when you try to homogonize several things such as almond butter and wheat berries. Overall good but defintly has room for improovement....This review is from: Champion Juicer White 1/UnitI am not a raw foodist, but I really like making my own peanut butter, good juices and fruit sorbet. For these sorts of things, the Champion is great. We like putting frozen fruit into it to make yummy, no-sugar-added desserts. and since it has a continuous extraction, it doesn't get clogged. Definitely worth the price....

Omega HD Vert Juicer VRT350 - Juice Extractor Machine - Fruit, Vegetable & Wheatgrass

This review is from: Omega HD Vert Juicer VRT350 - Juice Extractor Machine - Fruit, Vegetable & WheatgrassThis is an excellent juicer and thankfully came in one piece. The seller that mailed it packaged it very poorly so that the juicer box was able to shift around in the outer box. The outer box was also damaged, which might be UPS. But the juicer survived and is working fine. This is my 4th upgrade in a juicer, and I am happy with my choice. Here's the HOWEVER! The Korean company seems a bit minimalistic on instructions. You have no idea whether the silicon plug is supposed to be kept in or out to juice. And after a very chewable first try, we realized it is supposed to be IN! But is there ever an occasion for it to be out. We assume it is pulled out only to facilitate cleaning. There are no recipes or instructions for juicing other than assembly. I hope they are paying the rather enthusiastic guy on Youtube, because without his demos and a couple of others, the buyer would be stumbling around in the dark. So yes, buy the juicer, and watch YOUTUBE!...

This review is from: Waring PCJ2 Citrus JuicerThere are two very important things a juicer should do. 1) extract all the juice and b)clean up easily. This juicer does both. The manufacturer calls it slow, but I saw it as very powerful. By the time I juiced my second lemon, I was a pro happily throwing out completely empty half lemon rinds. It costs a little more than some of the other models, but it's also built to last. I'll probably end up having to put it in my will....This review is from: Waring PCJ2 Citrus JuicerI have used the Waring PCJ218 juicer for the past 6 months. I juice on average 10 oranges each day. I can state without reservation that this is a good looking, well made, powerful juicer. How good is it? I have purchased 2 additional PCJ218 juicers as gifts. Do I know what I'm talking about? I design machinery for a living. Rarely do I find consumer products to be worthy of praise. This juicer is a real gem at a reasonable price....This review is from: Waring PCJ2 Citrus JuicerEasy to use, easy to clean. Juices grapefruit, oranges, lemons, limes, and keylimes with no problems. I like it so much I bought one for my Dad for his 70th Birthday! 5 stars!**After having used this juicer for over a year (under heavy use - 6 oranges a day) the reamer has started to slip and it makes a grinding noise. The downside of this juicer is that the center post is plastic and not metal. I'm still searching to find out if this post can be replaced. I have loved the juicer and am sorry to say that if you are a heavy juicer then try to get this on sale, if you are the occasional juicer then this will last you a lifetime. Current rating for heavy juicers - 3 stars!...

Green Power Twin Gear KPE-1304

This review is from: Green Power Twin Gear KPE-1304The Green Power Kempo Pro is in a class all its own. My wife and I went from the high speed juicer to the masticating type of the Green Power Kempo Pro and have never looked back. There is no comparison to how delicious the juice tastes from the Green Power Kempo Pro. We have been juicing for over two years now and there is not a day that passes with out the little red switch getting flipped on, and those twin gears hummm. If you care about your health and want the best tasting and healthiest juice money can buy, I highly recommend buying this juicer. Fresh squeezed fruits and vegetables will change your life....This review is from: Green Power Twin Gear KPE-1304Yes, I agree with the reviews about delicious juice. However, this machine is an absolute horror to clean. It also has no safety switch and will start when not completely assembled. You must unplug the juicer for safety, which is recommended for all electrics anyway. It easily clogs up and makes a disgusting mess. I would not recommend this juicer to anyone. My Omega was and is a far superior juicer....This review is from: Green Power Twin Gear KPE-1304When my Nutritionist explained to me why I needed a twin gear juicer, I knew that I had to say goodbye to my juicer that grinds and spins the fruit or vegetables to make juice. What I needed was a juicer that did not create heat from friction and would press the fibers to release the enzymes so that nutritionally I could benefit from it. My Nutritionist does live blood cell analysis and I was able to plainly see that without the enzymes I could not heal on a cellular level. I was most impressed by the Green Power KPE-1304 Twin Gear Juicer Wheatgrass, Vegetable & Fruit Juicer and I was able to get it at the right price from Amazon.com. I expected to wait for delivery at least 10 days, but instead it arrived about 30 hours after ordering it. I was blown away at the service! I have not been disappointed after it arrived and I have used it everyday since. I love everything about it! It truly does everything it says it does. Wheatgrass and greens are fantastic and with no effort! Vegetable and fruits are easy to do and are delicious! Since I like sorbet and ice cream - with the crusher attachment you put through precut & frozen fruits to make the best sorbet imaginable. Put in frozen bananas and you think you are eating ice cream. Yum! Then when you have finished juicing, the clean-up is a snap. Needless to say, I am very, very pleased with my purchase -- the price -- the service -- the quality of the juicer -- the easy of using it!...

Samson GB-9001 Juice Extractor

This review is from: Samson GB-9001 Juice ExtractorI bought this juicer expecting it to out-perform my current machine. However, it's just too much trouble to assemble the screw and caps and cut up vegetables and feed them in the hopper and plunge them in, slowly. With my old high speed blender that I use for carrot juices, it's simply a matter of pushing whole carrots into the top slot. Then open and clean out. Takes a minute. In sum, I would say this Samson machine may be useful for something, to someone. But please, if only I could have tried it out first....This review is from: Samson GB-9001 Juice ExtractorWe got this to replace an older juicer. WOW what a great machine--and so easy to clean afterwards!...

This review is from: Super Angel 5500 Stainless Steel Living Juice Extractor - Super Heavy Duty Juicer: for Fruits, Vegetables, Leafy Greens, Wheatgrass, MoreThis quality juicer is a beast of a machine that squeezes every last drop out of anything you want to juice. The Angel is a pleasure to use, easy to clean and creates delicious drinks with 2-3 times more juice (and nutrients) than any juicer I have owned.JUICEThe most important part of a juicer, juice from the Angel tastes delicious and makes too much to drink!I make a Dr. Oz "Fresh" Juice daily, using celery, apple, spinach, cucumber, lemon, lime, ginger and parsley. Using 1kg (35 ounce) of ingredients the Angel Juicer returns 894gms (31 ounce) of juice, making it almost 90% efficient at extracting liquid from the mentioned ingredients. The Angel excels at leafy greens, but is also very impressive with fruits. Pomegranate juice is highly recommended, to make you strong like bull! Orange, pineapple or grapes are almost as yum, and as there is very little pulp ejected, juices taste more flavoursome and have a consistency better than any I have tried from another juicer, carton or juice bar. There is very little foam produced perhaps around 2-5% of total juice content. The Angel also makes soy milk, nut butters and seed juice, although I have never made these.EASE OF USEThe Angel is quickly and easily assembled with a simple on and off function, however it is slower than a centrifugal juicer in extracting juice. The twin screws quietly and slowly chew the juice out rather than spinning it out at high speeds like a centrifugal juicer. This is a Rolls-Royce juicer for a luxurious drink, if you want a fast drink buy a Ferrari Breville juicer or something. If produce is inserted too quickly, a mushy goop at the bottom of the feeding shoot appears and eventually a couple of drops will leak from the clamping mechanism. This is the biggest annoyance I have encountered with the juicer, but rarely problematic if produce is inserted slowly enough. So, instead of washing, cutting and juicing all the fruit/vegetables at the same time, I find it easier to chop then juice, chop then juice, giving the Angel ample time to squeeze everything out, taking less than 5 minutes all up, for 1kg of Fresh Juice. You can put things like apple seeds into the twin gears without change in taste to the juice, but many lemon seeds make a juice bitter. CLEANINGTo make the machine spotless takes a good few minutes. All non-motor parts except for the screen mesh need just a quick wash under the tap(faucet)Other reviewers stated finding it difficult to clean the screen, and it can be awkward at first, but much less so than centrifugal juicers with their myriad of parts and clamps. I found the screen much easier to clean if liquidy produce, such as lemon, is juiced after more fibrous produce such as celery. Then only a wash under the tap with a few scrapes on the outside and a few scrubs on the inside (with the included scraper and brush) is needed. When juicing pomegranates, everything washes away with a quick splash with no scrubbing required. As everything is stainless steel, there are no plastic bits to discolour, meaning that everything looks brand new if wiped clean with a dry cloth. After months of use the juicing parts do not have a single water mark, scratch or stain on them, but the stainless steel motor unit has a couple of faint water marks which may be annoying if you are a perfectionist like me.After a few months of daily use, a slight calcium residue appeared on the juicing parts but a vinegar soak and a toothbrush, as per the manual instructions, dealt with that. BUILD QUALITYThe motor unit is a monster with a 5 year warranty, but like most quality products I expect it to last much longer than the stated guarantee. Both the motor and the twin screws are very heavy and sturdy feeling. In comparison the mesh screen is very light, but is strong and its weight beneficial when cleaning. The wooden plunger is of excellent quality, as it has not stained or split at all. The plastic juice and pulp containers however, are weak, scratched quickly from cleaning and stain if left dirty. The benefits of having an all stainless steel juicer means no contact with (potentially toxic or gender bending) plastics, and promoted in detail on the Angel website, so why a cheap plastic container was provided is beyond me.I replaced the plastic juice container with a 1 litre Pyrex jug which works better as a juice receptacle. When switched on the Angel is remarkably quiet, with most of the noise coming from the internal cooling fan. During use, the Angel is a little noisier than a loud fridge, but much, much quieter than a centrifugal juicer, ie. you can still hold a conversation or listen to music. GOOD: Easily makes wonderful tasting and copious amounts of juice.BAD: Have to chop-up and insert fruits and vegetables slower than a centrifugal juicer.UGLY: Should replace el-cheapo plastic jug with a glass one. Water marked stainless steel motor unit deducts one star. In short- Buy this product if you can afford it and love vegetable juices. If you can't afford it, and you are serious about juicing, save up. 4-stars because for the price it should be perfect, but the Angel makes 5 star juice.PS. YouTube "Angel Juicer" to see it in action....This review is from: Super Angel 5500 Stainless Steel Living Juice Extractor - Super Heavy Duty Juicer: for Fruits, Vegetables, Leafy Greens, Wheatgrass, MoreI did a fair amount of research before buying this unit. It lived up to what was written:1. ...

This review is from: Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric JuicerI have been juicing for years with a few different cheap brand names. They were ok but very difficult to clean and very loud. I like to make my juice early in the morning before I go to the gym and it would sometimes wake up my neighbors if I did it too early. Many times I had to juice after the gym because it was so loud. The first thing that I noticed with the Power Juicer Pro is that it is super quite. Secondly it is pretty easy to clean. Thirdly, the machine is just beautiful. And lastly, the juice is much finer and cleaner than juice made from much cheaper machines. If you are serious into juicing and you do it everyday this is the machine to get. If you juice once in awhile you might want to get the cheaper Jack Lalanne plastic models. But beware that the plastic juicers are harder to clean and often get stained by the carrots. I hope that this review will be helpful to some. Happy juicing!!!...This review is from: Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric JuicerI have seen multiple bad reviews on this product, and they are all on the same issue. The unit bogs down. Now, I have used the 4 gallon commercial juicers (sunkist brand, champion brand and warring brand) and this product. IF maintained and used as it was directed it will produce a better quality juice than the machines I used for my work. The main thing is what you add to the unit. If you use a sweet potatoes and hard gummy pulpy items you will have to watch the filter and feed it slowly and pay attention. You cannot expect the product to run well if you jam items into it and crush it in. When the pulp starts having more juice in it, turn the unit off, remove filter clean it and replace. Simple! I love it. I precut just for an easier juicing and it does help. Please dont let people who cant read the manual dissuade you from a great juicer. Remember maint. is the key to this product!...This review is from: Jack Lalanne PJP Power Juicer Pro Stainless-Steel Electric JuicerI saw the Ad on TV for this Juicer and decided to buy one. I looked on Ebay and found one at half price and listed as new. Bid on it and won. The day it arrived I had some aplles and blue berries and carrots ... What a tasty drink I made and was pleased .Til I started to do the cleaning ..I found the pulp sticks in the discharge chute . This was OK but when I lifted the recepical off the base and saw all the pulp on the edge and dripping down the side I decided this is not right.. being the innervator that I am. I thought there should be a seal there . I purchased an seven and three quarter "O RING" and now the base is sealed from the recepical and no more leaks of juice and pulp.. The MANF needs to add a seal to that area.. and then the machine I think would be betterOther then that I'm happy with the Jack LaLanne juicer...

This review is from: Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor with Custom Juice CupThe first thing you should keep in mind is that it is one of the lowest price juice extractors out there. It's true that it has a small feed chute and that does mean that you have to cut up your veggies and take your time. The negative criticisms about this machine not being good for "continuous feed" and making too much pulp are most likely the result of trying to jam too much into it at one time. It even says in the owner's manual that if you are making carrot juice, put in only one piece at a time and go slowly. I cut my pieces so that the weight of the plunger is usually enough to push them through and I get great results. You just have to take your time and realize that this is a low-cost machine made for fairly light use, and you will enjoy it. Also keep in mind that if you clean it immediately, everything pretty much rinses off except the basket, which usually requires some help from a sponge. If you are in a hurry or plan to be a heavy user, spend more money and get a heavy-duty machine, but I find it to be fine for my occasional home use....This review is from: Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor with Custom Juice CupI wanted a new juicer, tried two Juiceman models and juice yield wasn't impressive and pulp a little too damp. I saw this one at Walmart and I thought "no way could a $30 juicer be great." I was wrong. It's more compact and I'm all for pulp-extraction but not if it's from an oversized container sitting on the back of it. If you're just making juice for one to a few people at once, you don't need it. This one has the right sized container and just rests within the body of the machine. It gets better: Because the feed chute ends very close to the cutting blade (a problem many juicer models need to correct) it doesn't waste chunks of produce. The pulp is drier than about 7 other juices I've owned or tried. I've been using it 1x/day for 2 months now. I still cannot believe this cheap juicer outperforms so many others. The only con is the feed chute is small so I'm cutting thicker parts of carrots in half, apples smaller, etc. No complaint as I'm usually just juicing for myself. Small sacrifice for a compact, quieter juicer. Other tip: clean the screen cold water gentle via a soft or baby toothbrush then store the brush inside the clean pulp extracttion cup if you want. Enjoy!...This review is from: Black & Decker JE2200B 400-Watt Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor with Custom Juice CupI like the juicer a lot. The mouth of the opening is a little on the small side meaning that I have to cut the vegetable and fruits up small but other that that, it does what it should. It was easy for me to assemble and take apart. The cleaning is not an all day process. One word of advice is to buy a cleaning brush for the blade if you do not have a dishwasher....

This review is from: Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Plus Citrus JuicerThis juicer is awesome. It is light and small in size which makes it not only easy to store but makes me willing use it all the time - no dread of lugging out some huge, heavy contraption. I live in South Florida and have a yard full of grapefruit, orange and key lime trees - this juicer does them all like a champ. With the two sizes of the juicing cone, one juicer takes care of all of my citrus. The strainer pops apart very easily and is a snap to clean with running water alone! You do not need to apply much pressure when using the juicer which allows you to juice many fruit in a row since your arm doesn't get tired. I love the adjustable pulp strainer - my husband likes lots of pulp, I like a little, and some friends just like the juice alone - no problem with this little workhorse. I also love that it gets all the juice out of the fruit - the fruit is dry after going on top of this machine! The juice flows right into the pitcher which makes it perfect for pouring right into your glass or into any other container - pitchers, plastic zip top bags, etc. I had looked and looked for a good juicer and most were expensive, bulky, hard to clean, etc. but not this great machine. I was skeptical since it is so cheap, but thought, "Well, what do I have to lose since I'm not spending much on it?" - now I'm in love with it. I'm such a fan that I just bought a second one to take to our vacation house!...This review is from: Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Plus Citrus Juicermost other juicers will tire out your wrists long before you have enough juice for a cup, but not this one. using it couldn't be easier- cut the oranges in half, hold one half over the top, and it spins around, and your juice ends up in the little pitcher on the bottom. when you have enough (it has handy markings on the sides of the pitcher for measuring), twist off the pitcher & pour it out. because the motor is in the seperate base that doesn't get any juice on it, washing it is super easy- just pop off the juicer piece, the pulp straining top, and the pitcher and wash them in your dishwasher or sink....This review is from: Black & Decker CJ525 CitrusMate Plus Citrus JuicerI was in the appliance section of the store and I was trying to decide between the citrusmate and one that was only 5 dollars cheaper. And then I saw that the CitrusMate has a separate smaller cone for lemons and lime, and since I was buying this thing to make my life a little bit easier while on the Master Cleanse diet/fast (a lemon and water concoction for 14 days), it was a given. This is my first juicer, so I don't have a comparison for you, sorry, but I can definitely recommend it as an appliance just by itself. Very efficient in shredding the citrus fruit! It rotates both ways, to get the juice out efficiently. And the clean-up is a breeze. After this lemonade fast is over, my diet will only be water and juice as far as beverages go, and this thing will be so much easier to use than my Jack la lanne juicing machine, when I just simply want a glass of fresh orange juice!...
