We all (11 grandchildren, 2 grandparents and 4 parents)pitched in and built a lemonade stand and entered it in the contest. The town gives out prizes for the best tasting lemonade and most creative lemonade stand. I did lots of research and decided to try the Lemonader. The design is very poor but I have to admit that it makes the best tasting lemonade we've ever had. The judges thought so too and our 11 grandchildren won the prize for the best tasting lemonade. If you're afraid of making a mess then don't buy it. But if you are looking for best tasting then give it a try! Besides that, it was very easy to assemble (remember the pin on the back of the handle) and it was easy to clean too. All the removable pieces are dishwasher safe. It's also smaller than a juice extractor ... so it doesn't take up a lot of counterspace and I can store it in the cabinet too....

Have to knock this down to 1 star.** ORIGINAL **There are a number of things I had wished I had known prior to settling on this juicer:- It's super duper loud. No, I mean it's reeeaaaalllly loud. It sounds like a wood chipper. It's louder than my food processor, my blender...even drowns out my 10 month old. Especially loud when juicing apples or carrots. - It has suction cup feet for a reason. Sometimes when juicing hard fruits or veggies, the machine kicks back so hard it shoots the plunger back up at you and makes an awful thump. I imagine this is because the motor is so powerful, but it scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. - It wasn't designed to be easy to clean. There are 8 pieces to take apart and wash. The top portion with the chute is the most difficult. There are a lot of little crevices that are super hard to get into and clean. Some so hard, I've just had to accept that that tiny piece of green stuck in the corner is now permanently part of the machine (I even tried using a nipple brush the size of a pipe cleaner to no avail). Also, there are these sharp pointy pieces of plastic that jut out from inside the chute (I'm sure it has something to do with stopping the plunger) but I've busted my knuckles more than once on it while washing it. It's very frustrating.- The entire unit is pretty tall. It does not fit under my kitchen cabinets.Some good things I've noticed:- The motor seems really powerful. If this means the juicer can take what I throw at it and lasts me a good long while, I'm happy.- The chute is wide. You can toss in whole apples and pears. While a nice feature, I also think some of the design issues are because of it (there is a chute within a chute - you remove the inner one when you want to juice large items - this is where the pointy knucklebuster is). Turns out since I prep, peel, and wash all of my produce for the week at the same time, cutting an apple in half really isn't a big deal. - The pulp catcher has a large capacity....

I purchased this for my vacation home and I'll be trashing my old one in my primary residence and buying another one of these there. We noticed that our juiceman jr was not efficiently juicing our green vegies. It was wasting 90% of them. The green veggies (expensive I might add) went right into the plastic bin hardly touched. I went to Jamba Juice and they explained how an auger presses the green juices - and, that's what Jamba uses for their wheat grass....well, the rest is history. I did my homework and found out that augers are more efficient just like Jamba explained. And, kitchens best walked me through the entire thing. Plus, they offered a 90 day money back warranty. They are incredibly nice and I can't believe they offer that kind of awesome money back gaurantee. Anyway, they are RIGHT about the juicer - it absolutely presses out 95% more green juice than the Jack Lalane and Juice man Jr. styles..and it does a better job on apples, ginger, and everything else too. The ONLY down side is - it's a slower process. But, in life - you can't have everything. I would much rather take a minute or two more each day and get my monies worth out of the fruits and veggies I buy than to speed through it and waste my food. Also, I seriously think it tastes better too!! Reason being, the other style spins it so fast - I swear it tasted "burned" sometimes. The Samson seems sweeter and more mellow. Anyway, trust me - you won't go wrong with this juicer or this company. Lovely company. Fair price too. Nobody offers a 90 day warranty...not even KMART OR WALLMART!! Nuff said. However, once I took a minute to look through their instructions manual, it became clear how it all goes together. The reason it looks like so many parts is that there are different nozzles and stuff for the different functions of the machine. The manual has very good color pictures and illustrations so they made it pretty simple, even for someone who (like me) hates reading through manuals.Much quieter than my spin model, for sure, and the pulp came out much drier as well. Specially with the cucumbers. I was used to having a wet sloppy mess being left over when I tried to juice cucumbers- not so with this juicer.It looks very sturdy and well put together, and disassembling it and cleaning it (in the kitchen sink, not the dishwasher) took me 3 minutes in all. Probably the only reason I spent $149 for the Spring Switzerland juicer is that it was endorsed by Dr Weil so I figured he at least checked it out. Not only is this juicer awkward to use and to assemble/disassemble, it is very inefficient. So inefficient that I started to collect the wet pulp in a mesh bag squeezing out a considerable amount of juice from the pulp every time I juiced. While this juicer sounds good -- two speeds, low speed for soft fruits and vegetables, high speed for harder ones -- it expels the pulp into the collection container too quickly leaving a lot of juice in the pulp for throw-away. It seems to be one pass through the blades and that's it in contrast to a centrifugal juicer which extracts the juice from the pulp pretty well. During operation, juicy pulp "escapes" dripping down the side of the juicer making a mess. To boot, it's a pain in the butt to clean. I am thoroughly dissatisfied with this product. I purchased this juicer in late Spring 2010. By late Summer I'd had enough and purchased another Jack LaLanne juicer from Target for $89.00. Jack's current juicer definitely has some improvements over the one I bought in 2007 -- it's very quiet, does a good job of extracting the juice from the pulp. It will even juice wheatgrass (see the instructions). I was so annoyed with the Weil juicer, wondered if Spring Switzerland even understood the concept of a juicer for fruits and vegetables and very disappointed that Dr Weil has his name on this product. What a waste of money. The juicer is sitting in a bottom cabinet - probably never to be used again. The only minor gripe would be that the pulp can sometimes collect at the top of the resevoir. I like that it feels very stable, is very solid and has suction cups to hold it in place. I feel it is one of the most effective juicers and the price is right! Most juicers are horribly expensive and difficult to clean. This juicer comes apart easily and all the pieces can be washed in the dishwasher.I find this juicer works best when you cut pieces of fruit and vegetables fairly small. After a few times you learn how small to cut the produce. Like a cucumber must be cut in fourths and apples must be cut into small slices. If there are any problems with this juicer it is that it vibrates quite a bit while being used. It seems better if you put a cloth/rag under the juicer. This helps to keep the cup collecting the juices stable. It also collects drips and keeps the counter clean. I have used juicers in the past which were much more difficult to clean so I think that is something to think about especially if you are going to go on a juice fast or use the juicer at least once a day. This review is from: Omega VRT330 Heavy Duty Dual-Stage Vertical Single Auger Low Speed JuicerOk, I hardly ever write reviews, but this juicer deserves the accolades I'm about to bestow upon it. I'm a heavy juicer, and go in fits and starts with heavy juicing and then no juicing. About a year or two ago I purchased the Omega 8003 juicer and have been happy with it. The main drawbacks to that juicer are its small diameter feed slot and the fact that you really have to "push" stuff along with the pusher. For the last couple of weeks I've been heavily juicing with that machine. My review is really from the perspective of what I'm coming from.First, I did a lot of research on juicers (again). Although I looked at the Jack La Lane juicer which is a high speed juicer (and much cheaper), I found myself coming back to the slow speed for the same reasons that drove me to my original Omega 8003, namely, keeping the enzymes in tack, better taste (less watery) and a better yield (especially with organic fruit being so costly). It was taking me about 25 minutes to juice with the Omega 8003 including cleanup, which is a bit lengthy for a glass of juice. Now, in defense of the 8003, it does a really good job of juicing, pulp is dry and it makes a good juice. However, I tend to make really large glasses of juice (usually at least 24 oz) and it requires everything to be cut up into small enough pieces to fit in the small feeder. Apples take forever, and even feeding things like grapes you still have to push a few in, then mush it down, few more, mush it down etc etc. Process takes a while. So my new VRT HD arrived today. Forget what HD stands for, but apparently the only difference is the strength of the inner filter/strainer, which I saw some reviews of cracking. I plan to work this thing like a mule, so I wanted the best.Setup was super easy, all the parts were easy to figure out, never needed to read an instruction and I was off an juicing in minutes. I've done 4 juices today, so far using all fruits (apples, pineapple, carrots, grapes, pomegranate and kiwi). All I can say is WOW!!!What I love so far: First and foremost, because its a vertical cylinder that masticates, I just drop in the fruit, say a carrot, and it grinds it right up. I can't cut off the tops fast enough. It just eats em right up. With the 8003, I have to jam and shove those things down into the screw. That alone is worth the price of admission. Just drop em in and watch em go. LOVE IT!! (can you tell I'm excited). Everything else got chewed up just as well. I've used a lot of fleshy fruit today, and did have one issue on my second juice. My pineapple and grapes got clogged on the little outlet where the fiber ejects. I think that was my fault however because I think I got over zealous and excited. I slowed down my feed a bit on the subsequent juicing's and had zero issues.Another feature I REALLY like is the self cleaning feature. A plastic thingy swirls around the outside of the screen/filter while your juicing and cleans the screen. In my 8003, grapes and other fleshy fruit really tend to clog the screen up, but I have had no issues all day. That screen comes out almost as clean as it went in. I do get foam floating on top of my drink. I'd actually say a bit less than my 8003, which surprised me because in a web demo head to head with another 800? unit I watched on youtube it looked like the VRT produced a bit MORE foam, but this is not my experience. It's not a lot of foam, but I hate foam. Nothing that a quick skim with a spoon doesn't rectify. Pure tasty juice underneath.Lastly, I was told in same said video that cleanup would take twice as long. I found that to be true for the first cleanup (not knowing what I was doing) but so far, my cleanup has maybe taken an additional minute. I find it quite simple actually, and once you figure out the pieces (not difficult), it actually seems little harder than my 8003. All in all I absolutely LOVE this juicer. I can juice 24 or more ounces of juice, from opening the fridge door to putting the pieces back into the cabinet in under 10 minutes. The top feeder is so much wider which allows for much bigger pieces, which means a lot less cutting and preparation. Once it goes in, it self feeds, which means your not standing there mushing stuff down. I gave away two of my other juicers (a Champion and Juiceman) and put my one year old Brevelle Elite in the basement, thinking I might use it again some day. But with each passing week, I don't think I will ever use the noisy, inefficient thing again--although it is a beautiful looking stainless steel machine. Mostly for juicing but have used the processor for vegetable drinks as well. Very satisfied with all functions. The quick interchangeable head makes going for juicing to processing a snap (literally). Power seems more than enough to handle whatever I throw into it. Cleans up very well with soap and water. I use a toothbrush to fine clean the processor's screen. Two machine for the price of one makes this a great buy.Since time will ultimately tell... I was tempted to buy another - but I liked the way everything including the pulp catcher is all in one unit. So glad I got the Breville.This thing is POWERFUL, especially compared to "Jack LaLanne". It is so powerful I usually don't even use the pusher except to cover the top so your ceiling doesn't get covered with stuff. Other reviewers have mentioned that tendency. What wasn't mentioned is that the reason it does that is because the motor is so beefy that stuff will shoot straight up. When juicing soft stuff I immediately cover the top with my hand.The design of this thing is absolutely first rate. Even down to the plug, which has a moulded loop so that it is easy to unplug and plug in! No tool is required to remove the basket, as in most other juicers. Breville uses a combo of ingenious design and magnets to hold it in place!Ease of use and fit and finish is perfect.Clean up is really a 2 minute operation and I don't even own a dishwasher. It will stain eventually, as every juicer I have ever owned does. Carrot juice would make a great dye :-)The pulp on this juicer is a bit wetter than the Jack LaLanne. The "Jack" had a much larger basket and a much slower rotation. I believe that may account for it. But it isn't much wetter - just very slightly. This juicer makes much smaller pieces of pulp though - and my experience so far has been that it gets just as much juice from a pound of carrots.Bottom line - I can't imagine anyone not loving this unit.UPDATE 3/26/2011 This thing is still going strong 3.5 years later. Folks I buy carrots by the 25 pound bag so I am HARD on juicers. My first was a Champion which served without problems for years. On the plus side it was powerful and durable. On the down side it was rather noisy, vibrated a lot and left a lot of juice in the pulp and was hard to clean. My second juicer was the omega screw machine which I still have. I bought it because it also did wheat grass. On the plus side it is quiet and juices anything, makes nut butter and extracts a lot of juice leaving very dry pulp. On the down side it is slow and worst of all the feed tube is really small. You have to do a lot of cutting to get things small enough to get into the feed tube. I pretty much only use it for wheatgrass now. The Breville is the best juicer I have had. It is an example of good product design in that it is simple, practical and attractive. It is powerful, has a feed tube large enough to take large whole carrots, beets and small apples. It is quiet, comes apart easy and cleans up quickly. The capture pitcher which nests into the machine has a nice cover so you can store the juice for later. If making juice is a hassle you're going to put off doing it.
