This review is from: Jack LaLanne\'s Power Juicer ExpressI'm so sorry to write this but I can't believe how terrible this juicer is. I had a lovely Braun juicer my mom got me for Christmas in way back in 1993. That thing juiced everything beautifully. I even lugged it with me when I moved to Europe. Just last year a dear friend became ill, so I gave her my old Braun juicer. It still worked perfectly but I figured she needed it and maybe it was time to get a new one. Unfortunately my new juicer is the Jack Lalanne power juicer express. First of all, it constantly stalls. It barely juices beets or carrots... yes, I chop them. I tried to stick some kale in (which the little Braun had no problem with) but it just completely stalled (like it always does). Also, its complicated to put together and the spout isn't high enough if you want to make a large glass of juice. My little Braun juicer took me through my all my raw food juicing years without a hitch. With my new Jack Lalane, I'll have to get an entirely new juicer if I want to go on a juice fast. Such a pain. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because I respect the man who's name is on the juicer....This review is from: Jack LaLanne\'s Power Juicer ExpressI like this juicer a lot. Just bought it at Kohl's today and it works great. I have had about 5 different juicers and I love this one by far out of all the rest. The screen filter is easy to clean. little slits instead of tiny pinholes. The juicer isn't the most powerful and you really need to be gentle when pushing food. You only want the juicer to go at its own pace and you need to let gravity do the pushing. Some things like apples you need to apply a small amount of pressure. With other high powered juicers You can push a whole apple through without a second thought. This one takes a little longer but the result is less foamy and MORE juice. Take your time when juicing with this juicer. If you let gravity do most of the work and lightly assist sometimes even pulling up the plunger and going back down to allow the fruit/veg to popup then go back down and it will juice and not jam. The videos on tips on the Jack Lalanne website from the factory are really useful. They show you how you SHOULD juice for long motor life and less juice wasted. If you do like on the infomercial your gonna break your motor quick. I am ecstatic with this juicer. Looks GREAT too. The picture makes some of the chrome look like its dull grey metallic...but all the shiny parts are chrome colored. Sometimes if you are going to do multiple glasses of juice you may need to pop out the filter/blade and rinse some of the fiber off so you can continue otherwise you don't get full performance from the machine. Best juicer I have had. Other juicers I have had: Magic Bullet w/juicer attachment, Magic Bullet Express Juicer, Juiceman and a Hamilton beach. I think the best benefit of the Jack Lalanne Power Juicer Express model over the traditional other styles is its quicker to clean(blade and filter one pc), meant for smaller amounts of juice at a time(smaller filter and blade and pulp collector) For me its the perfect size. If you are only going to do family size amounts of juice you may be more interested in the non-**express** models. They have a larger blade, filter and pulp container so you can do larger amounts of juicing between cleaning. Just a little more bulky and harder to clean. The express model is a nice size even for keeping on the counter top. Nicest looking appliance on my countertop!...This review is from: Jack LaLanne\'s Power Juicer ExpressUPDATE 9/4/11: After months of using this juicer, I have to edit my review and lower the stars given to 3 STARS. Why? Because of the clogging of the cutter teeth as detailed below... The clogged cutter teeth really make juicing a PITA as I fight keeping the teeth clean and open while juicing sinple stuff like apples, kale, and other leafy veggies. It should not be this way... Poorly designed cutter teeth, no two ways about it. It does work OK if you feed it in an order that cleans the teeth periodically during a juicing. I have found cucumbers and carrots as the best teeth cleaner. I even use a long cucumber as the plunger to feed in items that won't feed right as the teeth get clogged. Basically a PITA... I am no looking for a BETTER JUICER with cutters properly designed...The other positives reviews I agree with, so I will get right to my main points rather than specs...My Express Juicer is very effective and efficient in extracting JUICE. The pulp ejected is always a moist dry, which means it is extracting as much JUICE as possible. The motor seems STRONG as I have really pushed some TOUGH veggies through the Express, like Kale, and why I had to push them in with higher than ideal downward pressure has to do with the one FLAW I believe the Express has... The cutting teeth on the filter. The TEETH tend to get clogged when juicing FIBEROUS veggies, which forces one to either stop and clean the teeth (big hassle in the middle of a juice job), or push down harder and get through it so you can run some "teeth cleaning" veggies through, like carrots or celery. I have seen some pics of the Express with BAR-type cutting teeth, which would work much better IMO, but I have the fang-type teeth as my cutters, which do clog at times. But if you feed in the veggies in the right sequ...
